Embryo Vault Protection

The Embryo Vault is the mission continuity system and failure boundary, not a decorative objective. The briefing connects gameplay-facing systems to Mission Control language so future UI and game text can stay consistent.

System Role

This system should always explain what the player can do, what limit they are pushing against, what can fail, and how the result enters sector or planetary records. It should not read as an isolated stat.

Player-Facing Questions

  • What resource or risk does the system expose?
  • Which building, event, or technology changes it?
  • What tradeoff appears when the value improves?
  • Which global indicator or chronicle record should reference it later?

Writing Rule

Keep the text concrete: threshold, deficit, redundancy, maintenance, delay, and consequence. Avoid fantasy phrasing, pure upgrade language, or claims that one action solves a planet-scale problem.

Demo Failure Boundary

In the Seedfall Demo, the Embryo Vault should be the clearest reason that time matters. The player can delay expansion, reroute energy, or pause nonessential construction, but every delay must be visible as thermal drift, oxygen debt, contamination risk, or lost public confidence.

Mission Control should describe vault protection as a protected promise, not a reward meter. A successful sector proves that embryos remain insulated while the first water and oxygen loops are stressed; a failed sector shows exactly which dependency broke that promise.

Technical Overview

Embryo Vault protection links thermal control, power redundancy, contamination boundaries, and First Generation legitimacy into one failure boundary.

Use Cases

Use it for emergency power tradeoffs, protected growth timelines, medical audit events, and settlement capacity gates.

Failure Modes

Failure is rarely one explosion. It is heat drift, oxygen debt, operator delay, power rerouting, and public loss of trust accumulating together.

Demo Hook

The Demo hook is a readable protected timer: the player can keep building, but the vault shows what that delay costs.

Visual Archive

Use the vault incident image as a facility-risk plate because it shows the protected system under stress.
